You might have noticed in the last few months that U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (“USCIS”) has started issuing green cards (also known as “permanent residence cards”) with a new look to them.
The card uses state-of-the-art technology for enhanced security, including:
- holographic depictions that can’t be copied;
- laser engraved fingerprints;
- embedded data that can be read by scanners; and
- a return address on the back of each card for returning lost cards.
There is also now a radio frequency identification device on each card so that inspectors can scan the card and send back information to a file on the card holder.
