Citizenship Applications – Get the Address Right

Written By The Shapiro Law Group on March 03, 2010

The devil is always in the details, and if you don’t address your application for naturalization (the Form N-400 application for citizenship) to the right destination, you are likely to have a longer wait in line or get lost in the paperwork.

Changes in address for offices of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (the “USCIS”) are just one of many details that immigration lawyers keep up with on a daily basis, so it can pay to seek their counsel if you want to expedite action on your applications.

Most recently, the USCIS announced changes in address for applications mailed to both the Phoenix and Dallas regional offices.

If you reside in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming, Guam or the Northern Mariana Islands, you must now send your application to:

USCIS, P.O. Box 21251, Phoenix, AZ 85036.

For air-courier deliveries from those locations, you should send applications to:

USCIS, Attn: N-400, 1820 E. Skyharbor Circle S, Suite 100, Phoenix, AZ 85034.

But if you reside in Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands, then you should now send applications to:

USCIS, P.O. Box 660060, Dallas, TX 75266.

For air-courier deliveries from those locations, you should send applications to:

USCIS, Attn: N-400, 2501 S. State Hwy. 121, Business Suite 400, Lewisville, TX 75067.

All naturalization applicants filing under military provisions, including military spouses, should send their applications to:

Nebraska Service Center, P.O. Box 87426, Lincoln, NE 68501-7426.

Air-Courier deliveries should go to:

Nebraska Service Center, 850 S. Street, Lincoln, NE 68508.
